I have read and understand the Guidelines and agree to abide by them. In addition to keeping my garden plot in order, I also agree to volunteer at least 1.5 hours a month, April through October, for a total of 10.5 hours (Service hours opt out - one can avoid the service hour commitment by paying a $25 fee in addition to the plot deposit). I understand that the Cheverly Vegetable Gardens and the town of Cheverly are not responsible for my actions. I, therefore, agree to defend, hold harmless, and indemnify the Cheverly Vegetable Gardens and its volunteers, the town of Cheverly and its employees from any liability, damage, loss, or claim that occurs in connection with the use of the garden by me or any of my guests. I enclose the required deposit of $25 (per Cheverly resident) / $35 (per Non- resident) for one garden plot (one plot per address/household). 2010 Guidelines 1. The deposit is for a garden plot per garden year (March - February). I agree to maintain my plot which includes: weeds pulled, plant disease and pest infestations monitored and controlled; regular harvesting; plot leveled at end of season; all supports structures, trellises, string and all non-organic materials removed when the plot is given up. Individual plot fences are not allowed. 2. Hours of operation: Dawn to Dusk 3. Parking is limited at this site. Please respect other groups who have use of the field or picnic pavilion. Parking on 64th Avenue should be avoided at all times. 4. Keep the garden gate closed at all times, and lock gate when leaving. 5. Family members and visitors are welcome to the garden site. I agree to accompany children under sixteen as guests and understand I am responsible for their actions. 6. For safety and health reasons, pets, smoking, alcohol, and glass containers are not allowed at the Cheverly Vegetable Gardens. 7. I will notify the garden staff if I am no longer able to tend my plot. If I will be absent for a long period of time, I will make arrangements with another plot holder to tend my garden. 8. The bulletin board and listserv are ways for all of us to stay in touch. If I have any garden-related announcements, I will contact the garden staff at CHVGardens@verizon.net. 9. Any conflicts among gardeners should be referred to the garden staff. 10. If vandalism or theft occurs, notify the garden staff immediately. Help us to discourage losses by talking to unfamiliar faces. 11. Harvesting another plot is only allowed with explicit permission from the plot owner. 12. We are an environmental-friendly site. Non-organic insecticides, weed repellents, and herbicides are not allowed. For more help, contact the garden staff 13. Please conserve the use of water and use water barrels when possible. Make sure all faucets are off when you leave the garden. Mulch with leaves, grass clippings, or hay to reduce water evaporation. Return and coil all hoses. Do not drag hoses across other plots. 14. Upon receiving my plot, I understand I have until May 30th to plant it. NO REFUNDS will be given for unkempt plots. 15. Borrowed tools should be cleaned and returned to the shed after usage. Cheverly Vegetable Garden tools may not leave the property at any time. 16. No illegal, invasive plants or any type of perennial plants are allowed in plots. 17. Only items posted at the compost site should be added to the compost. No trash please. Please recycle plastics, paper, and cans in the recyclable containers provided by the town in the park. 18. Volunteer hours at the garden can be fulfilled by weeding and mulching paths and perimeter, fence repair, Cheverly Community Market work, and maintenance work in common areas - herb garden, flower garden and the tree nursery. 19. Housekeeping - Plot holders who fail to maintain their plot as stated in Item 1 will receive first notification via email. 2nd notification will be posted on the plot in addition to email notification, 7 days from first notification. If violation is not corrected within 14 days of the first notification, the plot will be turned under and re-issued to the waiting list. |
