The Cheverly Community Market is located in the heart of Cheverly,
Maryland, at the Cheverly Community Center, 6401 Forest Road.

Cheverly Community Market gives residents a chance to walk to a
central location, meet up with friends and buy produce closer to
home instead of driving to the local supermarket or farther away to
areas. Come join us at our picnic tables for breakfast, live music and
a rotating array of local artists and craftspeople.

While trips to the store are inevitable, we hope to help you keep in
touch with local food sources. We bring some of the very best local
vegetables, fruits, meats, fish, dairy, bread, wine, honey and more to
local residents every two weeks throughout our season. Please visit

OUR HISTORY
The Cheverly Community Market was founded in 2007, by long-term
Cheverly resident Crystal Lal, who grew up in a Colorado farming
community and was used to buying produce from farmers she knew
personally. After moving to Cheverly in 1988, Lal realized those days
were over when she had to drive out of her neighborhood to get any
kind of food. Finding locally grown food was even more of a
challenge.

Like many of her neighbors, Lal grew accustomed to trips to distant
farmer's markets and CSA's, but soaring fuel prices in 2007 and a
growing awareness of the importance of being a "locavore" led her to
establish a farmer's market within walking distance of most Cheverly
homes.

Approaching our fourth year,the market has grown from four
vendors to over 20. The Market is governed by a Board of Directors
which has grown from the original three members (Lal, Cathy
Wintermyer and Elizabeth Tuckermanty) to now seven members
representing expertise in agriculture, business, government,
education, and food.
